4. Past Simple Tense

+ Use: - chỉ sự viêc đã xảy ra trong quá khứ có thời gian xác định

+ Structure: S + V2­- ed

+ Adv: - yesterday

- last + (time)

- (duration of time)+  ago

- time in the past (Ex: in 1998)

5. Present Perfect Tense

+ Use: - chỉ sự viêc đã xảy ra nhưng không rõ thời gian hoặc đã xảy ra và kéo dài đến HT rồi kết thúc (hoặc vẫn còn tiếp diễn)

+ Structure: 

S + have/ has + V3­- ed

+ Adv: * just, already, ever/- …

* yet, recently, since + (point of time), for + (duration of time)

II. Passive forms:

1. Passive form in Present Simple Tense

Structure: S + am/ is/ are + V3­-ED 

2. Passive form in Past Simple Tense

Structure: S + was/ were + V3­-ED

3. Passive form in Future Simple Tense and Modal Verbs

Structure: S + will/ can/ must …..+ be + V3­-ED

 

II.The structure of the textbook-English 8

It has 12 units. Each unit has 7 parts.

(Getting started ,A closer look 1, A closer look2 , communication, skills 1, skills 2, looking back.)

We often learn 7 periods per unit.

How many tenses have you learnt in grades 7?
A: Six.
Q: Can you tell about the usages, the structures and some adverbs of time about these tenses? 
A: Yes, I can. / No, I can not.
I. Tenses: 
1. Present Simple Tense
+ Use: chỉ thói quen, lặp đi – lặp lại, sự thật, chân lí
+ Structure: S + V1- S/ ES 
+ Adv: - adverbs of frequency (always, usually, often, sometimes, never)
- every + (time)
2. Present Continuous Tense
+ Use: - đang xảy ra ở thời điểm nói
+ Structure: S + am/is/are + V- ing
+ Adv: - now, right now, at the moment
- Look!/ Listen!...
3. Future Simple Tense
+ Use: - chỉ sự viêc sẽ xảy ra trong tương lai có thời gian xác định
+ Structure: S + will/ shall + V1
+ Adv: - tomorrow
- next + (time)
- in a few + (time)
- soon, later, ...
4. Past Simple Tense
+ Use: - chỉ sự viêc đã xảy ra trong quá khứ có thời gian xác định
+ Structure: S + V2- ed
+ Adv: - yesterday
- last + (time)
- (duration of time)+ ago
- time in the past (Ex: in 1998)

Lesson 1: Getting Started

- Sts take note the new words and expressions
- Then teacher checks understanding by Slapping the.
3.Practice:
- Play the recording. Ss listen and read.
- Have Ss work in pairs and let them check the answers in pairs or groups, then gives the keys. 
- Tell Ss to refer back to the conversation to find the phrases. 
- Explain the meaning to the Ss (if need).
- Let Ss work in pairs and match write the words/ phrases under the right pictures. Then have Ss listen, repeat and check.
- Have Ss work individually to do the task. Then check their answers.
4.Production: 
- Explain how to play the game and call some Ss to talk about their “Leisure Activities”.
5.Homework

1. New words:
- leisure (n): sự thư giãn, nghỉ ngơi
- craft (n): đồ thủ công
- craft kit (n): bộ dụng cụ làm thủ công
- satisfied (adj): hài lòng
- DIY = Do It Yourself: đồ dùng tự làm, tự sửa.

2. Activity 1: Vocabulary
- Let Ss work in pairs to look at the pie chart on leisure activities in the US and answer the questions, then write down their answers.
Have Ss work individually to complete the table, the write on the board. 
- Have Ss work in apairs to match the words to the category label. Then say them out loud.
- Let Ss work in groups and talk about how much time they spend a day on leisure activities. 
- Go around and give help if necessary.
- Let Ss complete the words under the pictures then listen & check. Then practise the sounds together. 
- Play the recording and let Ss listen and repeat as many times as required. 
3. Activity 2: Pronunciation
- Have students work individually to complete the task.
- After finishing, sts compare their answers in pairs.
- Play the recording to check and have sts repeat.
* If possible, have students add more words containing these clusters.
- Then have students look at the sentences in part 6, practice the words with clusters first.
- Have sts listen and repeat the whole sentences
4. Production
- Have sts work in small groups to think about what their average day may look like and how much time is spent on leisure activities.
- Then sts talk about the three activities they do the most in their leisure time

1. Look at the following pie chart on leisure activities in the US and answer the questions.
Answers:
1. In 2012, people in the USA spent 5.1 hours a day on sport & leisure activities.
2. The main activities they did include watching TV, socializing & communicating, reading participating in sports, exercise & recreation, using computer for leisure and thinking.
3. The 3 most common activities were watching TV, socializing & communicating and using computer for leisure.
