I. Aims and objectives: 

By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to describe the houses and recognize houses in the pictures by listening.

1. Knowledge:

- Vocabulary: bank, a post office, a supermarket.

-  Grammar: - Revision: What’s that/ - It’s a/an ....

                          What are those? - They’re ...............

                           Is there.....?- Yes, there is / No, there isn’t.

                                     Are there any......?- Yes, there are/ No, there aren’t

2. Skills: Integrated skills

- Main skills: speaking, listening

- Sub skills: writing, reading 

3. Attitude: Educate Ss to learn hard and love their neighborhood.

4. Orientation of competence development:

- General competence: self-studying, problem-solving, communicating and cooperating.

- Specific competence:  using the vocabularies and the language to describe their house and recognize houses in the pictures by listening.

II. teaching aids: Textbooks, cassette and tape, pictures, flipchart.

III. PROCEDURES:

1. Warm up: (5’)

* Listen and Draw: (help Ss revise about the how to describe the house and be eager to begin new lesson) – LOW APPLICATION

T:  There’s a house. Behind the house there mountains. To the left of the house there’s a tree. In front of the house there’s a river. To the right of the house there are flowers.”

- T asks students to pick out a piece of paper.

- Ss listen to the teacher and draw.

- Ss make their own pictures and dictate them to a partner.

- T presents new lesson.

III. PROCEDURES:
1. Warm up: (5’)
* Listen and Draw: (help Ss revise about the how to describe the house and be eager to begin new lesson) – LOW APPLICATION
T: “ There’s a house. Behind the house there mountains. To the left of the house there’s a tree. In front of the house there’s a river. To the right of the house there are flowers.”
- T asks students to pick out a piece of paper.
- Ss listen to the teacher and draw.
- Ss make their own pictures and dictate them to a partner.
- T presents new lesson.
2. Presentation: (12’) (to help Ss focus on the topic of the lesson through new words, the model sentences) – RECOGNITION
* Pre-teach vocabulary:
- T uses some pictures to present the new words
- Ss practice new words individually and chorally.
 a bank 	(n) (picture): 	ngân hàng
 a post office 	(n) (picture): 	bưu điện
 a supermarket 	(n) (example): 	siêu thị
 Ex: Coopmart is a supermarket.
* Checking Vocabulary: What and where
Target language: 
 Nam: What is this ?
Nga: It is a hotel.
Nam: What are those?
Nga: They are trees.
Nam: Is there a hotel near your house?
Nga: Yes, there is.
Nam: Are there any trees near your house? 
Nga: No, there aren’t.
* Rub out & remember dialogue
- Set the scene: Nga is asking Nam about his house.
- T hangs the flipchart of the dialogue on the board.
- T rubs out some of the words. 
- T gets students to isolate the structure. 
What's that/ - It's a/an ....
What are those? - They're ...............
Is there.....?- Yes, there is / No, there isn't.
	Are there any......?- Yes, there are/ No, there aren't.
- T asks students some questions: 
 + Is there a hotel near Nga’s house?
 + Are there any trees near her house? 
- Ss answer the questions:
 + Yes, there is.
 + No, there aren’t.
3. Practice: A3, page 74 (15’) (to help Ss use the words and model sentences to practice speaking about the name of places in the pictures.) – UNDERSTANDING
* Picture drill

* Are there any trees? / Are they behind the house? / Is it to the left/right of the house? Is it house b? A: Yes, there is/are//No, there isn’t / aren’t. 
4. Production: (10’)
* Listening: A5, page 75 (To get Ss to listen to the cassette and try to find out which house it is. – HIGH APPLICATION)
Tape transcript:
There are some mountains behind the house. There are some trees to the right. There’s a lake to the left. 
- T asks Ss to listen to the cassette and try to find out which house it is. 
 - Ss listen to the cassette and try to find out which house in picture P 74 is. 
- T checks and corrects.
